Katherine Carol (kcarol@starnetdial.net) brings personal experience as parent of a 22 year old woman with significant cerebral palsy. Her daughter, Mikelle, graduated outstanding senior from East High School in Denver, Colorado. Katherine has had a high degree of success in obtaining resources for her daughter leading to several employment opportunities in the community. She has had a long history advocating for people with disabilities and creating positive change in service provision. She has a professional wealth of involvement in the nonprofit rehabilitation and for-profit leadership and management arenas. She has over 30 years of experience in rehabilitation services as; a founding chair of Denver Options, the community centered board for persons with developmental disabilities in Colorado, a former consultant for the Center for Technical Assistance and Training at the University of Northern Colorado, a program director of a supported employment and a former special education teacher.
As owner of Tango Consulting, Katherine has been consulting, coaching and presenting in over 44 states and internationally for the past 15 years. Her current focus is on economic and financial self-determination for individuals and families with disabilities. Her four phased program to creating a plan and adequately funding the plan has been well received by families and professionals alike. Individuals with disabilities have been eager to finally learn how to start taking control over the paper and they systems in their lives. Ms. Carol has worked with organizations such as the UAP of Maryland at New Jersey, University of Tennessee, Auburn University, Easter Seals of New Jersey/Bay Area, St. Louis Arc, Missouri Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, United Airlines, Aperture Credentialing and Healthcare Development Network. and various small business and executive coaching clients. Ms. Carol has successfully coached many executives, managers, professionals and parents seeking changes for the past 12 years and has spent time as a life coach for many others. Her book, Tango: Dance of Self-Discovery (2000) has been a powerful tool in helping others to make significant progress and professional lives.
